One of my favourite things to do is go out, eat good food and drink delicious wine. Is it not everyone’s? That’s why I was absolutely delighted to be invited along to The Salthill Social a couple of weeks ago to test out their new evening menu. Anyone that has followed me for awhile will know that The Salthill Social is a bit of a haunt of mine already as I always go there for brunch and coffee. It also helps that it is literally less then a minute from my house! Taking both of those two things into consideration, you could understand why I was so excited to hear they were launching a new dinner menu. Salthill already has a few amazing places to eat but I’m always welcome of new places and it’s really great to see new businesses popping up and the street becoming even busier.
Anyone that has tried The Salthill Social’s brunch will know that it never disappoints so the standards were set at a high standard for their evening menu. I brought my sister/photographer along who is also a fellow foodie. Our mom’s an incredible cook and because of it we love good food, so she was the perfect plus one. It was also a nice way of being able to thank her for having the patience of a saint in dealing with me and taking all my photos. 🙂
On entry, we were greeted by some of the lovely staff, given a glass of bubbly and sat by the window. With that, it was time to inspect the menu. First thing that I noticed, was how extensive it is. There is something for everyone on it. They offer a range of light bites or tapas style dishes, sharing boards, mains, sides and delicious deserts.
I hope you are all keeping well! The weekend before last was a bank holiday here in Ireland. Now usually, a bank holiday means one thing and one thing only – a very heavy weekend. When I say heavy, I mean a weekend filled with fun, frolics and of course ones fill of alcohol. As I’m sure most of you know by now, I am pretty much always up for a weekend of antics but this time around I just didn’t have it in me. I was feeling a bit worn out and in need of some R’n’R. Whenever I need a bit of space or time to relax, there’s always one place I know I can go that will help and that’s Ballyconneely. It really is my favourite place in the world. View Post
I’ll start this post by making a very bold statement – If you’re in Nerja, you simply cannot not go here. In other words, you would be crazy to miss out on the experience of dining at Restaurant 34. And that’s exactly what it is – an experience. From the second you step into Restaurant 34, you know that you are in a place of sheer luxury. No matter how many times I have been here, each time I am still taken back by it’s decadence and opulence. Nerja has no shortage of beautiful restaurants from quaint, authentic tapas bars to more modernised ones but this place tops them all, every single time. Having been here before and coming on holidays with another nine ladies, I just knew I had to bring them here. I was so sure that they would love it as much as me that I went ahead and booked the restaurant three months in advance. View Post
As I write this, the clock’s just turned past midnight and it’s now the 3rd of March, making it my 24th birthday. In the days leading up to my birthday, all I could think of was “Omg.. 24… you’re so old.. you’re one year away from the quarter century club..” etc etc. I kept thinking of it in a negative way which really was absolutely ridiculous. I feel like people my age put such pressure on themselves (myself included) to achieve things by certain ages, that when the plan they made for themselves as a clueless 14 year old, don’t go exactly as they had anticipated, they feel like they’ve failed or not done enough.
For instance, when I look back at the conversations I had with my friends when we were teenagers, four out of five of us probably thought that we would be engaged by the age of 27/28. In my eyes, 27 was the optimum age to get engaged, kids definitely by 30? Where this came from, I’ll never know but it certainly makes me laugh looking back on it because there’s no way you can really plan how that stuff and most of life turns out. You just have to go with it, make the most of it as possible and enjoy everything you can along the way.
I really do believe that life is about those small moments, the memories you make with friends and family, the hours spent laughing until your cheeks hurt and the nights spent dancing until your feet hurt.
Life’s too short not to enjoy yourself and there definitely isn’t time for moaning about being lucky enough to age another year. With that in mind, I decided I would make a list of the 24 reasons I have to smile and the things I am most grateful for on my 24th birthday!
Okay, here we go..
I’m sure a lot of you are aware that next Friday is of course, the highly anticipated Black Friday and the lead up to that which is called Cyber Week. I’m going to be doing a series of posts over the next few days to let all of you guys in on all of the best deals and sharing all the discount codes that you will need.
First up is one of my favourite cosmetic’s brands, Benefit. They are running a number of offers every day for a week starting this evening. So many offers and codes that I thought it best to dedicate an entire post to it. So here we go! View Post
