“Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy – but mysterious. But above all black says this: I don’t bother you – don’t bother me.” – Yohji Yamamoto
Today’s look is about as predictable as I can get when it comes to choosing an outfit and that really doesn’t bother me. I think sometimes people can get so caught up in changing up their look or evolving their style that they lose their own personal style in the process. I love trends as much as the next person, I mean I count down the days until February arrives because I know that with February comes my favourite March edition magazines, so I’m definitely not innocent when it comes to buying into trends and fashion moments. In fact, I love them – trends are fun and exciting and create that buzz in the fashion world that I love so much. But that doesn’t mean that we should forget about our own personal style or that we should feel guilty about returning to the same pieces in our wardrobe.
Today’s outfit is an “off duty” look of sorts – it’s basically what you would find me wearing on weekends and time off etc. As much as I would love to be a dress/skirt kind of girl, I’m just so much more comfortable in trousers and denims in particular. I’m becoming more and more a fan of the “Mom” jeans lately, they’re the perfect balance between not too skinny yet still flattering and they still show your shape. I love the fact that they’re high waisted too which means you can tuck a top in or wear them with shorter things like this cropped leather. View Post
With the beginning of every new season marks the introduction of that seasons new trends and progressions. For this Spring/Summer, the main rule is that there are none. As Vogue UK said in their recent March issue, it’s time to “wear your personality with pride – this season, fashion is here to help you shine”. Now, when I say to throw the rule book out the window, I mean it because the primary lesson to be taken from the catwalks is that prints are IN and the more of them you wear and the crazier they are – the better. It’s the season to be bold, to show your individuality, to express yourself and most of all, to have fun!
Hey guys! I’ve finally gotten around to doing another style diary. I picked up this waistcoat while I was in Athlone last weekend. Myself and my sister went with my dad to meet some of our family for lunch and before leaving we managed to harass him into bringing us to Athlone Town Centre. I love, love, love this piece. In winter I live in my faux fur gillets so it’s nice to have a lighter alternative for the summer months (not that we’re getting much of a summer!). Grey, suede and fringed- my idea of perfection! As you’ve probably gathered from my recent posts I am loving the current seventies trend. If you team that with my ongoing obsession with a-line skirts and never-ending love affair with anything denim, it was only a matter of time before this skirt found a way into my wardrobe! View Post
