Last weekend I attended the ACT For Meningitis winter ball and oh what a night it was. I’m never one to say no to getting glammed up and a good night out but I jumped at the opportunity to attend this ball in particular. ACT For Meningitis are an absolutely unbelievable charity and the work they do is nothing short of incredible. Meningitis can target any family and when it does, the outcome can be life changing and devastating. ACT For Meningitis work tirelessly to raise awareness, fund and provide support for families affected by this fast-moving disease. The work they do is so important and that’s why it’s equally important to get behind them and support them whenever you can. It’s not hard to support them when; 1. The work they do is so amazing and 2. You get to wear a pretty dress in the process! View Post
I hope you all had an amazing weekend! I attended a ball with lots of my friends and family (nearly 30 of us in total) so I was a little worse for wear the past two days but I’m starting to feel human enough to get cracking on blog work again! I’ll be doing a full post on all the details of the ball in the next few days so keep your eyes peeled…
For today’s post though, I’ll be talking all things wine and charcuterie related. It’s no secret that I have a very deep love for both wine and cheese (in no particular order) so I’m surprised at myself for not doing this post sooner! One of my favourite things to do is to go out with the girls for a few glasses of wine and share a meat and cheese platter along with all of our news. These few glasses generally tend to turn into a few bottles but that’s neither here nor there 🙂 Galway has so many amazing restaurants, that I think it’s time I started to show them the love they deserve here on adashoflime.net so I thought where better to start, than with some of my favourite places for that perfect sharing platter! I’m writing today’s post from the comfort of my bed while the rain hails down outside. Is there anything cosier than being wrapped up inside listening to the rain coming down? I’ve a few days off work this week and instead of doing too much I decided to take it really easy and actually have a break. I’ve used all of the rest of my holidays so far this year for trips away which of course was amazing but it also means I haven’t really stopped and chilled out for awhile so that’s what this week is intended for. Sometimes it’s important to just stop and take a minute (or a few days) for yourself 🙂 We can’t be “all go” all the time! There’s a few things I’m hoping to get done in the few days off and at the top of the list is to do the dreaded wardrobe switch. As I’ve said many times I’m not a huge Summer dresser so I don’t have too much stuff to put away but still, it’s a task I don’t look forward to. I do, however, look forward to digging out all of my favourite knits and coats. View Post
Happy Friday! Today’s post is the next in my AW wishlist series with this one focusing on your wardrobes main staple piece – your winter coat or jacket. I’ve always believed that having a few good coats is so important – if you are wearing a good coat, a good pair of shoes and have your hair done, you will always look properly “dressed”. It might sound old fashioned but you will never regret investing in good outerwear pieces. It’s something that you will always get wear out of and if you invest in them correctly they should last you and bring you through a few seasons.
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Sundays are by FAR by favourite day of the week, especially when you manage your first full weekend in, in months and you wake up feeling fresh as a daisy. Those Sunday’s are the winning ones. I’m spending this Sunday meeting up with one of my oldest friends, having brunch and then celebrating my sisters birthday, so it’s one I think I’ll be enjoying! Yesterday was such a fabulous day so myself and my sister/photographer decided we needed to take advantage of the last of the ‘September Sun’ lighting and shoot this look.
With the official arrival of the autumnal weather means it’s now socially acceptable to start rooting out all your cosy knits and layers. This makes me uncontrollably happy. Try as I might, I will always prefer dressing for winter. I love the layers, the darker shades, the cosiness.. View Post
