Style Diary – Velvet Blazer // Frayed Denims (& Some Exciting News!!)

I’m all smiles today and all smiles for all sorts of different reasons.

  1. I got my hair done…is there anything better than that feeling of a fresh head of highlights, cut and curly blowdry? Thank you, thank you, thank you Grafton
  2. I also got my brows done so I now feel like I can look in the mirror again.. again Grafton to the rescue!
  3. It was my day off AND it didn’t rain meaning I could actually do something with my time off. This is a serious rarity in Galway.
  4. Last but definitely not least, I found out I’ve made the shortlist of the Littlewoods Ireland Blog Awards best fashion blog! (Insert shocked face). I am honestly SO overwhelmed and thrilled to have made it this far, to see A Dash Of Lime in the mix among so many amazing bloggers who I’ve been following for years.. it’s mad! For everyone who has voted for me, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it!

To make the most of my day off, I headed into town with my two little companions, Mia & Colin. We had a walk around town, got some shakes and stopped for impromptu photoshoots more than once. Taking into consideration their combined age is 17, I’m seriously impressed with their camera skills!

Today’s look was such an easy one made up of essentials that everyone most likely has in their wardrobe. Jeans, a plain white t-shirt and a blazer, sometimes you just can’t go wrong with stripping it back to the basics.

This velvet blazer is one that I can just tell I am going to love forever. I’ve had it in the back of my mind for over 6 months now.. I first saw it last winter when we were doing the AW’16 buying for work and I knew that the second it came it, one was going to have to be mine. I am obsessed with the velvet trend that we will be seeing a lot of this coming season but what I really loved about this particular blazer was it’s versatility. I already know I am going to get so much wear out of it from a look like this for day wear or with a silky cami, jeans and heels for a  night out. It’s current stock and is available in Design House Barna now.

The jeans, well, I’m in love. The frayed denim hem is going nowhere this season so again I think I am going to get endless wear out of them. They have a relaxed mom jeans fit and I am loving the fact that they’re a dark wash as most on the market these days are lighter. I can already predict my grandparents asking me can I not afford a pair of trousers without any rips and tears but it’s a sacrifice and a slagging I’m willing to take!

You all know by now that I’m pretty much obsessed with plain white tshirts but this “Lover” slogan one just adds a bit more fun to the outfit. And with it being €11, it’s a no brainer! I finished the outfit off with my trusted red lace ups and crossover and voila, done!

Happy (almost) weekend!

Gotta Dash,

Edel x
