ITWBN Afternoon Tea with Retro Flame at The Glenlo Abbey

Hey Guys!

If any of you were on my Instagram yesterday then you’ll already know how lovely my Sunday was. The lovely and talented ladies at ITWBNSaibh and Sinead were successful in throwing yet another amazing and inspiring event. For anyone who hasn’t heard of the organisation, it’s a group set up for bloggers to support them and bring them together (a safe place if you will!). I was originally supposed to be going to the event as a blogger but was thrilled when the boutique I work for, Design House Barna, was asked to come along and show off some of our amazing stock that’s currently in store.

The event kicked off with the bloggers arriving to a fruit punch reception shortly after noon. This was ours and the other exhibitors time to set up shop. We were lucky to be surrounded by the lovely ladies of Solaris TeaInailz and St. Moritz. I’ve loved St. Moritz for years so it was brilliant to meet one of the co-founders, Dawn who came all the way from Manchester for the event. She had her full range of tans with her along with some products from their other range Ginger & Co– think beautiful hand creams, body butters and scrubs. I picked up a few and I’m already slightly obsessed!

When we were done setting up it was time for the yum part- the afternoon tea and wow did The Glenlo Abbey put on a spread. Perfectly cut mini sandwiches, freshly baked scones with cream and jam, salted caramel and popcorn flavoured macaroons – the list goes on. Accompanying these were freshly brewed teas from the Galway based herbal tea company, Solaris Teas. Everything was amazing! I was lucky enough to be sitting beside the lady of the hour herself, Retro Flame. I must admit, I definitely had a bit of a fan girl moment to myself! (I’m saying to myself but honestly it was probably completely obvious to everyone else at the table!)

After the tea and treats it was time for the part I think everyone was most looking forward to and that was Erika’s talk. It was honestly so inspiring to hear her whole story and as someone who has followed her blog from the beginning it was lovely to find out what she did to become so successful. If I learnt anything from the talk it was probably to put yourself out there more, invest in yourself, be consistent and don’t do things by halves. She used the quote “luck is when hard work and opportunity meet” and I think I’ll be using it as my new motto from now on. When she finished up speaking she was happy to answer all of our questions and she even stuck around to chat. I think we all left commenting on how down to earth and really lovely she was. It was at this time also, that everyone was able to wander around and browse the stands. It was great to show off a taste of what we have in store at the moment and everyone seemed to favourite our wide brim navy and black fedoras (or blogger hats as they’re more commonly being called nowadays).

Silk Blouse, Waistcoat & Jeans (Penny Black available at Design House Barna) Grey Bag (shop here).

As with every ITWBN event, we were completely and utterly spoiled with gift bags full to the brim of amazing goods from Benefit CosmeticsMcSharry’s PharmacyQuay St. Dental and loads more.

I had such a fantastic day and really enjoyed every part of it. It’s always so nice to meet up with other like- minded people and I left with a re-found love for blogging and all it can offer, be it opportunities, fun or even friendships. A big thanks again to Saibh and Sinead for being the organisational queens that they are and pulling off another brilliant event1

Gotta Dash,

Edel x
